When the motorcycle is running on uneven roads, the front shock absorber has obvious impact sound. The main reasons are: the spring of the shock absorber is broken or the elasticity is weakened; Insufficient or excessive oil in the hydraulic cylinder; The effect of air entering the hydraulic cylinder or damping valve is weakened.

 

If the spring of the shock absorber is broken or the elasticity is weakened, the shock absorber is very easy to be compressed to the end and make a collision sound. If the pressure reducing oil of the shock absorber is insufficient or the air enters, the hydraulic damping effect must be weakened. When the motorcycle bounces up, the shock absorber will quickly extend to the maximum position and make a collision sound. If there is too much hydraulic oil, the damping effect along the way will be greatly reduced. When the motorcycle jumps up and down, the loose parts will also make a sound.

 

There is shock absorber oil leakage

 

Most of the oil leakage parts of the front and rear shock absorbers of the motorcycle are at the oil seal. The main causes of oil leakage are:

 

The oil seal has poor sealing performance. After long-term use, the rubber of the oil seal is aged and damaged, or although it is a new oil seal, it is a fake and shoddy product. New oil seals with qualified quality shall be replaced.

The assembly quality is not high. During the assembly of oil seal and related parts, all parts were not carefully cleaned, resulting in dust, sand and dirt adhering to or embedded in the lip of oil seal, scratching the lip, or pulling grooves on the outer surface of piston rod, resulting in oil leakage.

The oil drain screw is loose. In case of oil leakage or oil leakage from the oil drain plug, drain the oil in the shock absorber, then remove the shock absorber from the vehicle, replace the sealing washer under the oil drain plug, or apply sealant on the plug and washer. After reassembly, inject hydraulic oil as required.

 

Shock absorber is too "hard"

 

The main reasons why the motorcycle shock absorber is too "hard" are: too much hydraulic oil in the shock absorber and too high air pressure in the shock absorber. Or the front fork sleeve is bent, and the oil circuit in the shock absorber is blocked. All types of motorcycles have clear regulations on the oil volume of shock absorbers, which must be strictly implemented. If too much oil is found, screw down the drain plug first, drain the oil, then reinstall and tighten the drain plug, and measure the specified amount of hydraulic oil into the pipe with a measuring cup.

 

For some models, the oil quantity of the shock absorber is measured by pressing all the inner pipes in, and then measuring the distance from the top to the oil surface. If the inspection confirms that the oil quantity meets the specification, and the front fork sleeve has not collided, the reason for the "hard" is that the oil circuit is blocked. The troubleshooting method is: first remove the shock absorber and disassemble it, and clean the disassembled parts. When cleaning, pay special attention to the damping hole to see whether it is unobstructed. Clean and dry before assembly.

 

If the air pressure in the air shock absorber is too high, deflate it. The operation procedure is as follows: support the main support, pad a wooden block under the engine to suspend the front wheel, remove the air valve nut, and measure the air pressure of the shock absorber with a special barometer. If the air pressure is higher than the specified value, after releasing part of the gas, use the manual pump to pump in. When the air pressure reaches the specified value, stop pumping. Do not use the air compressor to inflate inward, so as to prevent the seal from being damaged at the moment of overinflation.
