How much do You Know about the Type of Front Brake?
October 14,2022
At present, the front brakes are of disc type, ventilated disc type, perforated ventilated disc type, and other types. For most models, the first two types are commonly used, while the latter is commonly used in performance vehicles.
Disc
Unlike the drum brake, the rotating element of the disc brake is the brake disc. When the vehicle needs braking, the brake caliper is pushed by the hydraulic pressure. The friction material (brake pad) on the brake caliper clamps the rotating brake disc. This process is very similar to the braking process of our bicycles.
When the vehicle is braked, the front wheel braking system has a relatively large load due to the forward movement of the center of gravity. At present, more and more vehicles choose brake discs for the front wheel brake system. After the disc brake is applied to the front wheels, the thermal attenuation is relatively low, which is also conducive to improving the braking stability of the whole vehicle.
Vented Disc
With the development of technology, ventilated brake discs began to come into our side. The cold air of the ventilation plate can pass through the middle for cooling. From the outside, it has many holes leading to the center of the circumference. The centrifugal force generated during vehicle driving can make the air convection, to achieve the purpose of heat dissipation. Therefore, it has a better heat dissipation effect than the ordinary solid disc brake. The heat attenuation phenomenon is relatively weak.
Perforated ventilation disc type
Since it is possible to "ventilate" the brake disc, smart engineers must further think of a good way to cool the brake disc, and perforated ventilation discs came into being. The utility model is based on the ventilation plate to punch holes on the plate surface, to ensure air circulation to the greatest extent and reduce heat attenuation.
Of course, punching and scribing on the brake disc and changing from a solid disc to a hollow disc requires a lot of industrial design, calculation, and experiments. Without the above technical support, the original intention of the car owner to perform such operations as punching and scribing on the brake disc to improve the heat dissipation capacity of the brake disc often results in the brake disc structure damage, strength reduction, and other loss outweighing the benefits.
