6 Slipping Clutch Symptoms - How to Fix It
March 31,2022
Do you know why your clutch keeps slipping? As a professional manufacturer, we have summarized its solutions for you, let's take a look at it together!
Why does the clutch often slip?
✔️Fault phenomenon:
When the car starts in a low-speed gear, after releasing the clutch pedal, the car cannot start or it is difficult to start; when the car accelerates, the speed of the car cannot be increased with the increase of the engine speed, and it feels powerless to drive.
✔️Reason:
- The clutch pedal has no free travel, so that the release bearing is pressed on the release lever;
- The friction plate of the driven disc, the pressure plate or the working surface of the flywheel is seriously worn, and the connection between the clutch cover and the flywheel is loose,reduce the pressing force;
- Oil stain, ablation, surface hardening, exposed rivets and uneven surface of the friction plate of the driven disc make the friction systemdecrease;
- The pressure spring is fatigued or broken, and the diaphragm spring is fatigued or cracked, which reduces the pressing force;
- The clutch lever is stuck, and the oil and dust between the separation bearing sleeve and the conduit are serious, and even cause damage. It becomes stuck, so that the release bearing cannot be returned;
- The separation lever is bent and deformed, causing movement interference and cannot be returned.
✔️Troubleshooting:
- Check the free travel of the clutch pedal, if it does not meet the requirements, it should be adjusted;
- If the free stroke is normal, remove the transmission case and check whether the connecting bolts between the clutch and the flywheel are loose, and tighten them if they are loose;
- If the clutch still slips, remove the clutch and check the condition of the driven disc friction plates. If there is oil pollution, it can usually be cleaned with gasoline and dried, and then find the source of the oil pollution and try to eliminate it. If the friction plate is severely worn or there are exposed rivets, the driven disc should be replaced;
- If the driven plate is in good condition, disassemble the clutch, check the compression spring, and replace it if it is too soft.
To sum up
The slippage of the clutch can mainly be considered from the following aspects: the pressure of the driven disc is not tight, and the friction coefficient of the driven disc is reduced.
